Nordic Symposium 29 opens as an e-conference from Akureyri

Near 200 Nordic tourism and hospitality researchers are now attending the opening of an e-conference hosted by the ITRC‘s through streaming from the head office in Akureyri. The conference was originally planned to take place in Akureyri last autumn but was postponed due to the Corona pandemic, then aiming for on-site conference this fall instead. Unfortunately, the pandemic conditions in Iceland as in many neighbouring countries proved to still being challenging, leaving little alternative but to alter it to an e-conference.

As registration closed September 8, nearly 200 researchers had confirmed their participation, today and for the next two days, delivering online presentations and further discussing their research with other attendees. Three keynote speakers will furthermore present their research emphases and recent publications.
The conference is a part of the forum Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research. This year's conference, entitled Shaping mobile futures: Challenges and possibilities in precarious times is the 29th in the conference series.
