Rector visits Greenland

Eyjólfur Guðmundsson, Rector of the University of Akureyri and Rúnar Gunnarsson, Director of the International Office, attended the annual meeting of NUSCT (Network of Universities of Small Countries and Territories) which was held at the University of Greenland on 2 May. HA became a member of the NUSCT network last year, but the goal of the co-operation network is e.g. student and staff exchanges, co-operation in quality assurance and discussing policies and trends in university matters. Possibilities for student and staff mobility to the University of Akureyri were presented during the visit and UNAK will be expecting to receive exchange students from the University of Greenland next autumn.

Finally, Eyjólfur Guðmundsson, Rector of the University of Akureyri, had a meeting with Gitte Adler Reimer, Rector of the University of Greenland. The purpose of the meeting was to plan their visit to the University of Akureyri, where the two universities will sign a co-operation agreement on flexible learning. After the meeting, the Rector of the University of Akureyri presented the International Friendship Scarf, which symbolizes international connection, cooperation, and friendship. HA received this scarf from the University of the Highlands and Islands with the wish that it would go on to the next partner in the west.
