Markus Meckl, professor and dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Akureyri, recently received a grant from the Nordic Gender Equality Fund in the amount of DKK 500,000.

In the project Gender-based health inequalities among migrant women during COVID-19 and public health responses in the Nordic countries, Markus investigates the effects that COVID-19 has had on immigrants, especially women.

Based on an analysis of migrant women's experiences in three countries, the project aims to understand the impact of government and public health responses on migrant women during COVID-19, particularly by addressing mechanisms that may have prevented their previous access to health information and /or vaccination.
