The Peculiar Dream Life of Ludovico Petravitti

Written in Italian together with a Jungian scholar, G.Roberto Buccola, Giorgio's new work of humour explores the peculiar and amusing oneiric life of a fictional character, Ludovico Petravitti, who was born out of the authors' imagination in their previous literary divertissement, "Burloni animati in libera uscita" (Palermo: Carlo Saldino Editore, 2025).

Ludovico is an engineer, a highly intelligent man, yet equally a reserved and even shy individual, afflicted — like most other human beings on our burning planet — by deep-seated insecurities and neurotic complexes, whilst being as well intellectually perplexed and, to some extent, emotionally resentful, if not splenetic. In short, Ludovico is the embodiment of the contemporary Westerner and the unwitting representative of a commonly overlooked humanity — a majority thereof lacking any real power, in fact — as much as a spiritual mirror in which the readers, if they have the courage and ability to do so, can see themselves reflected.

With some luck, humorous literature such as the one created by Giorgio and Roberto can serve as a vehicle for serious psychological and philosophical reflection. But if the readers prefer to use Ludovico's dreams and nightmares simply to share a bourgeoning smile or even enjoy a hearty laugh, that is fine too.
