This time, Miriam Matejova will give the lecture: Environmental threats and security

This lecture explores the definition and key ideas behind the concept of environmental security. The core focus is on two prevailing types of research in the field: environmental conflict and various environmental issues, problems, and threats such as disasters, pollution, and the impacts of climate change.

About the speaker

Miriam Matejova is an associate professor in political science at Masaryk University. She is formerly a fellow at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University, a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, and a senior advisor at Canada’s Ministry of the Environment. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. She has published articles on environmental security, disaster politics, global environmental activism, and foreign intelligence.
