Inclusion of foreign staff and students: how can we do better?

More than ten percent of staff at the University of Akureyri are of foreign origin. Many are English speaking, or have English as a second language. In addition, most are undertaking (or have undertaken) some form of Icelandic language learning. The university is also increasingly attractive to foreign students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This presentation will provide commentary on common themes from foreign staff and students about their induction and support with their postions at UNAK. The role of an Induction Champion will be explored, and recommendations made to aid their development to become fully functional and confident in their roles.
