Increase in the number of men in nursing education – The current situation

The increase in the number of men in nursing education over the last 10 years. What has been achieved and how?

Dr. Eydís Kristín Sveinbjarnardóttir, professor at the University of Iceland & Dr. Gísli Kort Kristófersson, professor at the University of Iceland, have participated in various projects in recent years to increase the proportion of men in nursing at the University of Iceland and the University of Iceland with some surprising results.

They will review the projects they have participated in and their results, as well as try to analyze the essence of why the projects have yielded as good results as they have.

Finally, they will discuss the transfer of this knowledge to other health professions and how it could be used to balance gender ratios in their education.
