Equality Days 2026
In the talk, Guðmundur Oddsson will discuss the textbook The Power of Sociology: Grasping Our Unequal World by him, Jenny M. Stuber, and James M. Thomas, which was published last January by SAGE University Press.
This is an introductory book in sociology for university students, with a special emphasis on social inequality, international comparison, and social action. The main goal of the book is to introduce readers to sociology by highlighting the main subject of the discipline: Social inequality. What characterizes the book most is the emphasis on power, as the most important concept in sociology.
The talk will briefly outline the book's content and focus on various manifestations of inequality and power imbalance.
The event will take place in room M101 and will also be streamed via Zoom.
The book can be found here.
