Holiday greetings from Áslaug Ásgeirsdóttir, rector of the University of Akureyri 2025:

The year 2025 has been eventful and educational for the University of Akureyri. The University’s staff have devoted considerable effort to examining the impact of artificial intelligence on learning and work—an undertaking that will shape teaching and professional practices in the years to come. The development of new study programmes continues, and it is gratifying to report that never before have so many staff members applied for both domestic and international grants, reflecting an increased emphasis on research within the institution.

We face challenges in the higher education environment, but through unity and a clear vision for the future, we will face them together and continue to build a modern academic community that serves students, staff, and our community.
