About the project
Greenland and the Faroe Islands face a range of unpredictable geopolitical risks, while the conditions for civil preparedness, risk planning and societal resilience remain underexplored.
CDRP (Civil Defence and Risk Planning in Greenland and the Faroe Islands) examines how the governance systems of Greenland and the Faroe Islands plan for civil preparedness during periods of uncertainty and change.
The project draws on rare access to the Faroese national risk assessment process, allowing researchers to study civil preparedness policymaking as it develops and compare it with approaches in Greenland.
The aim is to strengthen national risk governance strategies in both countries while contributing to academic discussions on crisis governance and risk planning in small island states.
The project is led by Rógvi Olavson at the University of the Faroe Islands.
