The Psychology Talk
Are we tired, low in energy, sugar-craving, sad, and lonely in the winter?
Everyone is welcome to the Psychology Talk, where Yvonne Höller, Professor at the Faculty of Psychology, will discuss seasonal affective disorder in Iceland.
The Phychology Talk will be held at UNAK in room M101 and is open to everyone!
The Psychology Talk will also be streamed here.
While a clinical diagnosis is rare, many people feel worse during the winter as compared to the summer. Seasonal symptoms include sleep problems, low energy, longing for sweets, lack of interest in social activities, and just overall a sad mood. In this talk we will report about our results of ˜5 years of research of the seasonal fluctuations in wellbeing in Iceland: How common is the problem, who is most vulnerable, can we do something about it?
Yvonne Höller is an expert in measurement of brain activity in brain diseases. After graduating with a PhD in Psychology in Austria and a Master in Computer Science she worked for 10 years in clinical research in neurology and was hired at the University of Akureyri in 2018, where she was promoted to be a Professor in 2020. Yvonne runs several international projects, currently funded mainly by the European Union and Rannís.
All welcome!
