12th Polar Law Symposium in Hobart, Tasmania

The 12th Polar Law Symposium was held at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania, from 1st-3rd December. Professors Rachael Lorna Johnstone and Guðmundur Alfreðsson represented UNAK at the conference.

Rachael gave a tribute at the opening plenary to our late colleague, Ágúst Þór Árnason, one of the founders of Polar law, and gave a paper on the implications of the Chagos Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice for the legal status of Greenland.

Many of the papers delivered at the conference will be published, following peer review, in the Yearbook of Polar Law.
